Welcome!
Primrose Park Photography is a foundation group in the Primrose Park Art & Craft Centre, the arts-oriented community centre opened by North Sydney Council in 1991.
We provide a resource centre for photographers with all levels of experience and skill, working with a range of interests and ambitions. From phone photography through to large format working, film based or digital, vintage or cutting edge, we love everything photographic.
With such a wide range of stylistic options available to our members, it becomes difficult to support the ‘competition improves the breed’ suggestion. Consequently, we have always encouraged a friendly, non-competitive environment. Our philosophy - sharing of ideas, techniques and inspiration - has worked well over more than three decades of successful operation.
Technically, we are very well set up at Primrose Park. Members enjoy a large and very well equipped darkroom, excellent digital projection capabilities with matching sound gear, professional studio lighting and background kit and, of course, a comfortable, accessible meeting space. We can use the Centre’s exhibition space for high-quality exhibitions, too.
We meet each month, generally on the first Wednesday at 7.30pm, but with a couple of well-advertised exceptions each year. Mid-month events are organised as well, and advertised on our News page. Visitors are always welcome to our meetings - we won’t ask you for money!
Our beautiful harbour side location can be a little tricky to find - Matora Lane, a narrow paved road off Young Street, Cremorne - but it’s worth the effort!
